2004 Official Rules

For details of this fast-growing new Airgun sport, check out the January issue of Air Gunner - or visit the official website at www.ukahft.org.uk

The course
1.1 Targets are normal field target style that fall when hit, with 40mm hit zones. These can be placed at any distance; maximum distance should be 45 yards and minimum 8 yards. Reduced hit-zone targets (25 mm minimum) may be placed out to 35 yards.
Placement
Targets can be obscured but shoot-able without danger from ricochets. At least part of the kill-zone must be visible.

1.2 The scoring will be 2 points for a knockdown, 1 point for faceplate
and 0 for a miss. The target MUST fall to earn maximum 2 points.

1.3 The firing point is a post or similar marker that can be in the ground or fixed to an object (i.e. tree). The post must be touched by some part of the body/rifle as the shot is taken. Almost any position is allowed including resting the rifle/body on anything available within reach. Moving the firing point is not allowed. Anyone found doing so will be expelled from the competition.

1.4 No sitting shots are allowed that is where the backside is in contact with the ground

1.5 Kneeling shots can be taken in any style with the exception that the supporting hand must be forward of the knee.

Equipment
2.1 Any rifle is allowed as long as it is less than 12 ft lbs, and can be subject to a random chronograph test. No bipods, or add-ons to the stock to increase depth or steady handles are allowed (custom stocks are allowed). No optical aids at all apart from the scope in use. No wind indicators or scope levels can be used and must be removed before you start the course. The use of a sling is allowed but not as a shooting aid.

2.2 Any scope can be used. However, magnification, dialling and parallax must be set prior to the first shot and left untouched until the course is finished.
Anyone found doing any adjustments to the scope once the course has been started will be expelled from the competition

2.3 No FT-style beanbags can be used or any other aids to positioning other than natural surroundings. Beanbags can be carried to place guns on between lanes. Shooters may use a flat mat as ground protection

Safety
3.1 Please sling your rifle upside down so the muzzle is always pointed at the ground when not in use. Do not cock your rifle until you are ready to take aim. No gun should be loaded between lanes. Multi-shots must have the magazine removed, and be in a visibly safe condition. Each shooting group should appoint a safety marshal who will visibly check the groups guns for safety. Failure to comply can result in expulsion from the ground.

3.2 When a whistle is heard all shooting must stop. Shooters must discharge their rifles into the ground at a safe distance and wait until they hear 2 whistles; they may then commence firing when safe. Only marshals are allowed to halt or commence fire

3.3 If you are approached by a marshal for any reason i.e. shooting technique or safety please do as he has asked as remember he is there to make sure the course is shot fairly and most of all safely. I n case of a dispute, the Head Marshall can be called, and their decision is final.

3.4 Each host club will provide the course marshals. The Head Marshal will be provided by the H.F.T. committee

3.5 Juniors under the age of 14 must shoot with their parent/guardian on the day

Scorecards
4.1 Each shooter must mark their scorecard with their set magnification and parallax together with make and model of gun at the start of the course. If a complaint is received or when checked by the course marshal, and a shooters magnification or zoom has been altered the shooter will be asked to leave the ground

4.2 When a target has been downed the shooter must gain visual confirmation from a fellow group member before it is reset.

4.3 In the event of a tie for any of the first 3 places a shoot-off will then occur with each person shooting 3 targets, if there's a stalemate after this then it will be sudden death. For 4th place and below the positions will be done on a count back from their respective starting lanes. The first to miss would be eliminated from the tied place. In the case of a three or above tie, any shooter scoring a complete miss, i.e. a zero will be eliminated from the tie.
