June 2009 ISSUE NO. 298

The more observant among you will notice that the magazine has had a mild makeover. After reading your ‘Starter For Ten’ questionnaire we agreed that the captions often obscured the pictures, so we have eliminated this. We’ve also removed the stripes at the top of the page, so we can make pictures and text larger and easier to read. Another thing that bothered some of you was when we laid text on top of pictures, which made it hard to read. You have a point, but we like being a bit artstic now and then and will continue to do it. However, we will make sure that the text can be read easily. So what is in your new-look magazine?

The UKAHFT season is well under way and HFT is burgeoning. Despite its success, it’s good to see that the sport has still retained its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Gary Chilingworth is our reporter on the ground and brings you the latest developments. I have to say that despite my rude captions on Gary’s features all the HFTers take the comments in the spirit they are meant, so good on them.

If Gary’s features inspire you to take up the sport, then Ian Harford explains in ‘HFT and Me’ what equipment to use and how to set it up.

However, even though we have a lot of HFT in this magazine, we still have plenty of reviews and hunting features. Mat and Kev get the new BSA R-10 ‘blooded’ in the field and Nigel Allen takes an in depth look at the Fast Fire 10, an exciting new airgun that, as the name suggests, can lay down some rapid fire.

Finally, it was good to see so many of you at  Kelmarsh Game Fair and I’m glad the damp weather didn’t stop you from enjoying yourselves. It was also good to see Kieran Turner win the World HFT Champion title.

I hope you enjoy your new-look magazine.
